Suomen itsenäisyyspäivänä herään ukkosen jyrinään ja rankkasateeseen. Yläkerran isäntä on ajatellut, että auto on hyvä huuhdella oikein kunnolla, olen oikein tyytyväinen. Tällä viikolla on ollut hieman pilvisempää ja muutamana yönä satanut rankasti. Ilma on raikas hengittää. Pölyä ei ole niin paljoa kuin tavallisesti.

Koululla monet opettajat tulevat kädestä pitäen onnittelemaan minua maani itsenäisyyspäivän johdosta. Myös tämän maanosan merkittävän henkilön Nelson Mandelan kuolema on esillä. Uskon, että kaikkialla maailmassa hänet tunnetaan. Muutenkin olen törmännyt täällä läheisten kollegoiden sukulaisten kuolemaan. Koko perhe ja suku kokoontuu suremaan ja hautaamaan poismenneen. Vaikka suru on läsnä, aistin omaisissa myös voimakasta yhteenkuuluuvuuden, lämpimyyden ja luonnollisuuden ilmapiiriä.

Keskiviikko oli kokouspäivä. Pidimme palaverin ensin Antin ja Evan kanssa Skypen kautta. Sitten menimme tapaamaan koulun rehtoria.  Arvostukseni hänen työtään kohtaan on suuri. Olen käynyt näiden loistavien kolleegoitteni kanssa antoisia keskusteluja tämän maan koulutuspolitiikasta. Ja ymmärrän paremmin, miksi muutoksen tekeminen täällä on hidas prosessi. Korruptio ja suhteet vallan kahvassa olevilla on ihan normaali ilmiö tässä yhteiskunnassa. Monesti järjelliset ratkaisut ovat harvinaisia. Ihmettelen, mikä on se voima, joka saa nämä tiimini tansanialaiset kollegani uskomaan silti siihen, että he voivat omalla toiminnallaan muuttaa yhteiskuntaansa parempaan suuntaan. 

Näen koulussani monia hyviä asioita, joilla halutaan tehdä oppilaille tulevaisuus paremmaksi. Ja mikä ihaninta, koulu näyttää olevan paikka, jossa oppilaat viihtyvät koulupäivän jälkeenkin. Siellä voi aistia kivan ilmapiirin oppilaiden välillä.  Myös entiset oppilaat kokoontuvat sinne, nyt myös Amerikassa oleva entinen kuuro oppilas on ollut paikalla Skypen välityksellä useana päivänä. Nyt koulussa alkoi kuukauden mittainen loma, oppilaat palaavat opinahjoon 6.1.2014.

Olen etsinyt uutta asuntoa. Apua olen saanut eräältä koulun opettajalta. Toiveissa on saada muutettua ennen ensi viikkoista reissuun lähtemistä. Tarkoitus on matkustaa Dar es Salaamiin tapaamaan suomalaista, tässäkin projektissa mukana ollutta erityisopettaja Johannaa. Sitten ystäväni Suomesta saapuu tänne. Menen hänen kanssaan jouluksi Sansibarille. Sieltä takaisin Dar es Salaamiin ja suomalaisen perheen kanssa Safarille uudeksi vuodeksi. Ja 6 .1 2014 olisi tarkoitus aloittaa kiipeäminen 5896 m korkealle Kilimanjarolle. Tuntuu, että seikkailu on vasta alkamassa. Ja aika rietää vauhdilla. Mutta eipä mennä vielä asioiden edelle, vaan nautitaan tulevasta joululomasta täysin rinnoin! 

In English

It is Finnish 96th Independent Day (6.12.13). I woke up when it’s raining heavy and thunder rumbles. The Father of the Upstairs have thought to wash properly my car and I'm pleasure! In this week have been more cloudy than earlier weeks but in the same time the Air have been fresher and it hasn’t been so much dusty.

When I arrived at the School, many of the Teachers congratulated me about our Independent Day.

We also have got the News of Nelson Mandela's (95 years) death. I think he was one of the well-known defender of Justice in the World. The Great Person is away. In this week one of my colleague’s relative was also dead. The whole Family and the Tribe was getting together to mourn and to bury.  Although the Sorrow seems to be available you have a sense of warmth, cohesion and naturalness among the Folk. 

On Wednesday was Day of Meetings. At first we had Meeting with Antti and Eva by Skype. Then we had a good discussion our Findings of this Project with the Headmaster of the School. I learned the Lesson of the System of this Country. Now I can understand better why the Change is so slow Process here. Corruption and the Relationships are very Common among the people in higher power level. The Decisions they make is rarely to do with rationality. I’m wondering the Power of all Doing in my Tanzanian colleagues that get them to believe to change this system of the Country in the Future. In Meru Primary School I have the sense of the lovely Atmosphere among the Pupils. The School is the Place you can meet the friends after School Day. Many of the old Pupils come to School in the afternoon to meet each other. And there have been one of alumnus from America too in the teacher’s Room in this week too, thanks to Skype- connection. Today began the Holiday in the School. The Pupils come back to School in 6^th January.

I have tried to find a new Apartment with the help of a Teacher. I hope I can move to the new Place before my traveling to Holiday next week. I’m going to travel to Dar Es Salaam to meet Johanna, one of the Special Teacher from Finland, who are working here in Tanzania and have even worked in this Project before me. Then 18^th December my Friend from Finland arrives to Dar. We are travelling together to Zanzibar to celebrate Christmas.  And in the New Year we are going to do the Park Safari in N’gorongoro  Crater and Lake Manyara with a Finnish family. And at last in 6^th January I and my Friend start the Climbing to Kilimanjaro (5896m). So I have a strong Feeling the Adventure is only beginning. Time is running too fast! But I want to enjoy of the all time I’m staying still here.
